The Terms
Terms of Sale.
Short, in plain language. Nothing hidden in the small print.
1 · Who you're buying from
Elba is sold by the makers of Elba ("we", "us"). Payments are processed by Paddle.com Market Ltd., which acts as the merchant of record and reseller of the software. Your receipt and invoice will show Paddle alongside our name.
2 · What you're buying
A one-time perpetual licence to use Elba — a single HTML file that runs locally in your browser. There is no server component, no subscription, no account. See the Licence for the full terms of use.
3 · Price and payment
The price shown at checkout is the price you pay. Local taxes (VAT, GST, sales tax) are calculated and displayed by Paddle at checkout based on your billing address. All prices are in Euros unless otherwise stated.
4 · Delivery
Delivery is digital and immediate. After payment, you receive an email with a download link for the Elba package (a single .zip containing Elba.html and its launchers). If you do not receive the email within one hour, check your spam folder, then write to us — see Contact.
5 · Refunds
See the Refund Policy. In short: 14 days, no questions.
6 · What Elba does and does not do
Elba encrypts a folder on your own computer using AES-256-GCM with a key derived from your passphrase. It does not send your files anywhere. It cannot recover your passphrase if you lose it — no one can. That is the point. See the Manual for the full picture of where the fence ends.
7 · Warranty
Elba is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. It has been built with care and released as source alongside the binary so you can verify it. It is not a substitute for backups, and we make no claim it will protect you from every threat — read the Manual for the honest boundary.
8 · Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from your purchase is limited to the amount you paid for the licence. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, death, or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot be limited by law.
9 · Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Nothing here removes any statutory rights you have as a consumer in your country of residence.
10 · Changes
We may update these terms. The version in force at the time of your purchase is the version that governs your purchase.
