The Elba License

Mortalware.

Software with an end date that is not death.

The full text of the license ships in the package as LICENSE.txt. This page is the plain-language summary. If the summary and the license disagree, the license governs.

  • · You bought Elba. You may use it, forever, on your own machines, for anything you like, private or commercial.
  • · You may give away the one extra copy in gift/ to one other person. They then have the same rights you do.
  • · Until the Change Date, you may not sell it, publish it, or hand out copies beyond that single gift.
  • · On the Change Date — 1 January 2030 — Elba automatically becomes free and open source for everyone under the MIT License. No permission needed.
  • · The bundled fonts (Crimson Text, IBM Plex Mono) are under the SIL Open Font License. See THIRD-PARTY-LICENSES.txt.
  • · There is no warranty. Elba is provided as-is.
